Scarborough Psychotherapy Training Institute
SCPTI is a non-profit making company limited by guarantee. It was founded in 1991 and offers both high level accredited training courses and skilled practitioner counselling and psychotherapy services to members of the public. SCPTI is accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. The Institute is a member of the European Association for Integrative Psychotherapy and an associate member of the European Association for Gestalt Psychotherapy.
Counselling and Psychotherapy
Counselling is an opportunity to talk to someone without fears of being judged or criticised. It offers a confidential space to explore thoughts and feelings about issues that may be troubling you, such as loss, bereavement, family relationships, work difficulties, stress, anxiety or feelings of depression.
Psychotherapy supports you to explore patterns of thinking and behaving that may interfere with living life fully or in your relationships with others. Our approach at SCPTI is relational and developmental.
Appointments
To make an appointment please telephone SCPTI, who will offer you the names of qualified, experienced practitioners. Alternatively you can look on our website: www.scpti.co.uk. Following an initial appointment you may agree to work with your counsellor/ therapist for up to six sessions before deciding if you would find it helpful to work for longer. Sessions usually last for one hour and are on a weekly basis. However you can decide the frequency with your therapist
Costs
Qualified, experienced therapists will charge £30 - £35 per hour.
Reduced Cost Service
As we provide professional training courses in Psychotherapy and Counselling a reduced cost service is also available. This is with trainees in their 2nd to 4th year of training who are in supervision with accredited supervisors. To access this service please telephone SCPTI and our administrator will arrange a one hour assessment appointment for you with a qualified therapist. This costs £35 and ensures we can find a trainee with an appropriate level of experience.
Supervision, Consultation and Training for Other Organisations
Staff at SCPTI provide professional supervision and consultation. We also offer team building and training for other organisations. For further details please telephone SCPTI or see our website.

Our therapists and counsellors are asked to undergo enhanced CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checks in relation to working with children or vulnerable adults.
