Gestalt principles have become a way of being for me - an organic, compassionate common sense approach to validating emotional and human needs for connection to self, others and the world, and embracing change as a natural process from where you are right now. Together we explore old patterns and limiting beliefs with compassionate curiosity. You become more authentic, more yourself, and experience the freedom that comes with greater choice. If you are curious to know more please call me for an initial chat via telephone, video, or for a face-to-face meeting - whichever you prefer. No charge and no obligation.
Face to face: dedicated room in the quiet village of Goxhill, North Lincolnshire. Goxhill is easily accessible by car south of the Humber Bridge, close to Hull and Beverley, and within a 90 minute drive of Scarborough, York and Leeds.
Remote: Skype and Zoom or telephone
For trainees at SCPTI
Working with you in a transpersonal way enables you to grow in self knowledge and authenticity - essential fundamentals for becoming the therapist you want to be.

Mark Anderson UKCP accredited Relational Centred Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

Working from Scarborough

Hi, I'm Mark,
As a Relational Centered Counsellor I'm both open to, and curious about the relationship that unfolds between you and I, as therapist and client. In any given moment, our past experiences of 'being-with' are present; influencing the way we make contact with ourselves, with others and how we make sense of the world around us.
In our work together we will explore what is causing unease or difficulty in your life within the safe boundaries of a therapeutic relationship.
As your awareness and understanding increases, you may realise there are different choices you can make that will help to improve your emotional and relational well-being.
There is no prescribed, or fixed amount of sessions; your needs are individual and relevant to your own story.
Ordinarily we would meet for an initial session with a view to meeting again on a weekly basis.
If you would like to talk more about working therapeutically with me, please contact me for more details and to arrange to meet.
A session usually lasts for 50 minutes with our first meeting perhaps a little longer; up to one hour. I work in person from SCPTI, in Scarborough.
My fee is £40 per session.
If you have any questions, please give me a call and I'll do my best to answer them for you - 07802 915 101.

I am an experienced and accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor working with individuals. I offer sessions in a variety of ways to suit your needs including online, outdoors and face to face in my private room in Market Weighton.
All counsellors and therapists work differently, I work relationally and creatively, bringing together theories from many areas including: Gestalt; transactional analysis; attachment theories; and trauma informed therapy. I have a particular interest in childhood trauma, domestic abuse/violence, loss, bereavement. I also have experience in working with anxiety, perinatal mental health, divorce and separation.
I believe the key to successful counselling and therapy lies in the relationship between client and therapist. I work relationally with empathy and at your pace. I respect and value that your experiences are unique to you and understand how difficult it can be to reach out for support. I will do my best to ensure you feel welcomed from the moment you make your enquiry and will happily answer any questions you may have.
I believe that we all deserve the right to be heard and understood. All too often in life we are given 'messages', sometimes unspoken ones, sometimes they are not even in our awareness, yet they can have an impact on our emotional wellbeing. We may find ourselves wondering about many things such as, 'Why me?' 'What have I done wrong?' 'I don’t know what to do.' 'I don’t know who I am anymore, I feel lost.' By offering you an ethical, empathic therapeutic relationship, I will support you to find your way.
I offer an initial free phone chat to discuss your difficulties and an opportunity for you to see if you feel comfortable ‘being together’ and with the way I work.

As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I believe that a person’s early life experience influences who we become and there is a tendency to repeat ways of relating to others. When we grow into adults we find ways of coping which offer some security because they are familiar. However, we can get ‘stuck’ in old ways of being in life which no longer seem to work. Therapy can help us find new ways to avoid repeating problematic life patterns.
Therapy sessions last for an hour and usually take place once a week or fortnight. In these sessions, you would take the lead to explore issues of concern. I might suggest some possible coping strategies, but mostly I will not give advice or tell you what to do. Instead I will aim to meet you in your world and join you in a journey towards finding your own preferred life path. I believe that with understanding, support and sensitive challenge people are able to make changes in their lives and relationships. My approach would be tailored to your needs as an individual. I also place a lot of trust in the healing power of a caring, supportive therapeutic relationship.

I am a UKCP accredited Gestalt Psychotherapist working from my private therapy room in Burton Fleming. I am also a qualified and experienced supervisor. In the past I have worked as a Secondary School Counsellor, as Co-facilitator of Psychotherapeutic Counselling, for a Mental Health Crisis Line and as a Specialist Foster Carer. Before training as a therapist I ran an English Language school for overseas students and worked as a Human Resources Manager in Industry.
I aim to help you to understand what is happening for you now in your life. Sometimes this means looking back into the past to understand how this has affected what is happening now. As we work together, we start to understand how things have become as they are. Within a safe, confidential relationship, we explore your experiences and find different ways of being which support you and help you move forward.
I believe that what has happened to us in our relationships in the past affects how we behave in life and relationships now. You will find me warm, approachable and knowledgeable as I offer you a safe, confidential environment.

I have 20 year’s experience as an Integrative Psychotherapist (UKCP) and 15 years as a Clinical Supervisor (UKCP). I hold additional training in Embodied Relational Therapy and in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) a method of working with people who have symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress. My approach is both relational and developmental, with use of art, sand play and imagery in addition to other humanistic modes of working. I see adult clients on a short and longer-term basis for counselling and psychotherapy, providing a confidential space to explore difficulties that may include loss, bereavement, relationships, stress, anxiety and depressive feelings or for those seeking personal development.

I have a lengthy experience of working in private practice and in multi-disciplinary settings in the statutory and voluntary sector: After Adoption Yorkshire (now PAC-UK), a registered charity supporting birth parents, adoptive parents and adopted adults; Therapeutic Fostering Schemes supporting foster carers with children who suffered significant harm; Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), where I worked directly with children and young people with complex needs; Training, including early relational trauma and attachments, dissociation and shame.

Reg. MBACP. Foundation Degree and BA (Hons) Counsellor.
I am a BACP registered Counsellor. In addition to my private counselling practice in Scarborough, I work as a counsellor for a generic counselling service in Malton offering short-term (6 Sessions) and long-term (up-to 30 sessions). As a registered BACP member I work within their ethical framework and guidelines.
I was trained in person-centred, cognitive-behavioural and coaching models of practice and now work in a relational integrated way to suit individuals concerned. This means the relationship between a client and therapist is paramount and is what underpins your personal growth, increased awareness, healing and change. I facilitate this with you, in a shared therapeutic journey, by offering a safe, compassionate, supportive, confidential space to explore feelings and relationship stresses in a non-judgemental environment, where you can reflect and see yourself in a new light.
If you find yourself struggling with relationship problems, anxiety, ill health, low self-esteem, abuse and many other issues, I may be able to help you to understand what is happening in your life currently. Sometimes this will mean looking back into your past to understand how this has affected what is happening now. I believe in our natural ability as human beings to problem solve, heal and grow. However, I also recognise life’s events and circumstances can affect our potential to access this important part of ourselves.
I am committed to my ongoing professional development. I have attended a range of workshops and courses in the last couple of years on self-harm, domestic violence, sexual abuse, inner-child, transactional analysis, healing and resolution, trauma and the body and dissociation. I am reasonably flexible with days and evenings to suit you. If you have any questions about what counselling involves, please telephone or email me, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
My professional fee is £50 for an hour.

Therapy of any kind, Psychotherapy or Counselling, can seem a daunting prospect. We are often told, and throughout our lives, that we need to take responsibility for our mental health. So whilst we reach out to our GP when we sprain an ankle, for trauma, depression, bereavement, anxiety, addiction and so much more we feel pressured into resolving these alone. I believe that mental well-being is a right and not an aspect of luck. We all have the right to live the lives we want in the context of our relationships with others and ourselves. Therapy can help this process. If you are seeking support and understanding of the way you feel then please contact me.

I believe that happiness comes from having great energy and great relationships. If you can be really connected and loving and bring the energy you need to any situation then everything you need is going to come to you and most importantly you will be victorious. Without energy nothing exists and without nourishing relationships (particularly the one you have with yourself) everything in life can seem dull.
On my own journey I have found that the most useful tools I have come across for helping me develop great energy and great relationships have been Gestalt Psychotherapy and Kundalini Yoga (as taught by Yogi Bhajan). I feel so blessed to be able to bring these tools into your life now.
I currently work mostly from a designated room at my home near Pocklington in East Yorkshire. I also work from rooms in York and Hull. Skype or telephone sessions are available for those unable to get to these locations. Individuals, couples and groups welcome. So please do contact me. You can be assured that any questions you may have about therapy I will answer with kindness and compassion.

I am a UKCP registered Relational Centred Psychotherapeutic Counsellor offering long-term in-depth psychotherapeutic counselling and short-term brief and focal counselling in private practice in Newcastle City Centre. My approach is warm, relaxed and compassionate.
Perhaps you have never felt like you fit anywhere. Perhaps you did not get the care you needed in childhood and wonder who you might be if only you were free to meet your potential. Perhaps a sudden trauma or life transition has made you question everything. As a relationally trained therapist, I am skilled in helping people to identify and heal from the ways they have been hurt in relationship, to develop more satisfying relationships with themselves and others and to find meaning in their lives.
Drawing on my 20 year-long experience of insight meditation practice, I integrate mindfulness into counselling where helpful. I also enjoy offering creative and symbolic ways of working, such as through drawing, working with clay, inner child work and play.

As a psychotherapist, my goal in each session is to create a safe environment in which we can have honest and open conversations. I try to understand your situation and we work together to consider potential solutions and opportunities for change. Therapy is a team effort where we try to improve the circumstances of your life and achieve your goals. I practice a person-centered approach where your engagement in therapy
sessions and participation in treatment plans is welcomed and encouraged. Together we learn to challenge negative thoughts and replace
them with more positive, healthier ways of thinking. We learn ways to improve communication in relationships and to reduce tension and anxiety. I also stress the importance of exercise, a well-balanced diet and mindfulness; these are areas we can work on and help you plan for a healthier lifestyle. I work with clients both in person and online via Zoom.

Working in Pocklington
As a relational integrative psychotherapist I work with you to explore your past experiences, uncovering how unresolved wounds could be affecting you and your relationships with others. We explore if the strategies you use to cope with life are working for you, bringing an awareness that helps you make choices that are right for you.
In collaboration, we explore your thoughts, images, body sensations and emotions; developing skills and resources that help you in relationships with yourself and others. We then work with these resources to provide a safe space for you to address past traumatic experiences which invade your life today, bringing about greater self-compassion and acceptance and new confidence in yourself and your future.
I work from my therapy room in my home in Pocklington. I offer a free initial consultation to see if working with me feels right for you and invite you to contact me by phone or e-mail to arrange this.

Hello and welcome. I’m an experienced integrative, relational psychotherapist and humanistic counsellor, working with clients and couples online nationally and face to face in Scarborough.
I endeavour to offer you a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental place for you to explore your feelings, thoughts and experiences. I work from where you are, developing a supportive relationship where you feel accepted. I am committed to the quality of our relationship, and I believe that what happens between us offers the potential for change.
In my experience, the therapeutic process can bring about insight and understanding, along with greater self-awareness and emotional growth. This, in turn, leads to more choices, which may help us achieve a greater sense of balance and fulfilment in our lives. Working in relationship offers you the opportunity to become aware of patterns in your life, and the ways in which you may be interrupting its flow. It also offers a greater understanding and strengthening of your relationship with yourself, creating the potential for healing and transformation.
I have experience working with trainee therapists, which is underpinned with over ten years of training counsellors. I currently work as a part time as a university tutor.
If you have any questions, please do contact me.

Hi, I'm Vicky
Sometimes we can feel stuck or dissatisfied with life. Be this because of repeating unhelpful behaviour patterns, outdated beliefs about ourselves, being in dysfunctional relationships, or perhaps a change in life circumstances such as loss of a loved one, career change, or retirement.
I offer a warm, non-judgemental and safe space where we can explore together and work through whatever brings you to therapy.
I'm a UKCP accredited psychotherapist and supervisor and I offer individual clinical supervision to qualified or trainee counsellors and psychotherapists.
Additionally, I offer academic supervision to trainees who are completing their qualifying pieces of work.
I'm based east of Leeds a mile from junction 46 of the M1, and also work online on zoom.

I’m a UKCP-registered psychotherapist offering short- and long-term therapy for adults in Leeds.
I became a psychotherapist because having therapy changed my life and made me want to help other people in the same way.
I’d like to help you to understand yourself better, make links between your past and present, and spot patterns in the ways you think, feel and behave. What happens between us in therapy will tell us a lot about what happens for you out in the world – and because I’m a relational therapist, I believe we can make use of that.
Working this way helps me support you to make positive changes in your life.
I like working with all kinds of people including those with unconventional
lifestyles, neurodivergent people and others who feel they may not quite fit into mainstream society. I also enjoy working with people who are using other healing practices, such as breathwork.

Welcome! I offer Mindfulness Core Process Psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and compassionate space in which we can explore the difficulties you wish to bring. I have a relational and collaborative approach to creating the space for you to explore and find your sense of Self. I work skilfully with the ancient Art of Mindfulness, integrating modern approaches, so the more difficult and deeper issues are allowed to unfold.
To this unique blend of Eastern and Western psychotherapy I bring 20 years experience in Spiritual Counselling.
I am happy to work short, long or open term depending on what difficulties you wish to bring and explore. Sometimes we are not sure what troubles us, but its more a feeling of something is 'not right', or 'missing'.
Sometimes it is the sense that 'history is repeating itself', or we find ourselves 'going around in circles’ that spurs our desire for change.
The initial consultation is £25, and is to talk about what you are hoping for from psychotherapy and to ask me any questions.
My fee is £50 per session, which last for a therapeutic hour of 50 minutes.
I offer a concessional rate of £40 per session to those who could otherwise not afford to be supported with psychotherapy, such as full-time students and trainees. Availability is limited, please get in touch to enquire.
For arranging an initial session please get in touch via email or telephone.
After the initial meeting you have time to reflect on whether you wish to work with me and start psychotherapy. The follow on session will be a double session to allow us time to complete a more detailed assessment. At that time we can agree the regular time and date for our weekly meetings.

I’m Rachel Surtees a.k.a the rambling psychotherapist. I offer therapy sessions both online, and face-to-face outdoor sessions in an urban park location in North Leeds.
The things we find difficult in life come in many guises and can be really challenging to navigate alone; you may want some support with a life event or transition, you may be experiencing anxiety, depression or low self-esteem (to name a few common issues), or be feeling unsatisfied with your relationships, you might be feeling stuck or want to explore and better understand who you are and what you want from life.
Whatever your reasons for seeking support right now, I can offer you a respectful, empathic and non-judgmental space for you to come and talk about what you are finding challenging in life.
We will explore together, at a safe pace which suits you, what brings you to therapy and what might be standing in the way of you living the life you want. We will discover what change might look like for you and I will support you to experiment with new strategies and behaviours which will help you to create lasting change and help you to thrive.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in please get in touch to book a discover call.

Welcome. I am a Gestalt psychotherapist who completed my training at SCPTI. I offer a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space to meet, be heard, supported and, where necessary, challenged. My role is not to take decisions for you or be directive, rather to have the privilege of journeying alongside you, supporting you to take greater control over your life. Our times together can help you raise your awareness, gain insight, identify options, make decisions, improve relationships, connect with feelings and emotions – whether life is difficult now or you simply feel ‘stuck’. I offer short or long-term support. My general life experiences include bringing up a family, international adoption, community volunteering (e.g. FoodBank, school governor) and caring for elderly relatives. I hold a Christian worldview, whilst welcoming clients of all faiths/spiritualities and none. I am also a qualified life and business coach and have had a long career in business change for major private sector organisations and government departments. I look forward to hearing from you if you are interested in arranging an initial, free, confidential, 30 minute discussion. Please note that as I live in Worcestershire, and hence am not local to Scarborough, I am available for on-line sessions via Zoom or Teams.

Personal Information:
I am what is called an Integrative practitioner. This means that to the best of my ability, in dialogue with my client, I seek to develop a way of working which is most appropriate to your individual style and way of being. I draw especially from Humanistic and Existential approaches, Psychoanalytic approaches, and also from more solution-oriented approaches such as Cognitive and Behavioural approaches and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). I also offer a form of Philosophical Practice, and a form of Poetry or Literary Therapy.
Broadly, in Humanistic and Existential work the emphasis is on what is going on in the present, in the here and now, drawing from that creative renewal for living. In Psychoanalytic work the emphasis is upon how past patterns, sometimes from very early, repeat themselves, and also can transform themselves, in the present. More solution-oriented approaches offer specific methods to relieve the symptoms and manifestations of particular problems. Philosophical Practice draws from the philosophical traditions of West and East to address issues about ‘way of life’ in general – which can have a surprising impact on specific life difficulties also. Poetry and Literary Therapy draws from the wisdom of the world’s great literature and art to widen perspective, release feeling in a non-pathologising way, and open doors to new life possibilities.
I have written articles, [see http://hewardwilkinson.co.uk/writings], and a book, The Muse as Therapist, (Karnac Press), about philosophical and literary approaches to psychotherapy and counselling. My book, which is not an easy read, is at:
http://www.karnacbooks.com/product/the-muse-as-therapist-a-new-poetic-paradigm-for-psychotherapy/25803/
My doctoral commentary, which is somewhat more accessible, is at:
http://hewardwilkinson.co.uk/docs/Commentary-on-The-Muse-as-Therapist.pdf
Biography: I am also trainer with SCPTI, and Guest Faculty Member with the Living Institute, Toronto, Canada. Author of The Muse as Therapist: A New Poetic Paradigm for Psychotherapy, Co-Editor of two UKCP book series books, and Senior Editor of International Journal of Psychotherapy, from 1994-2004. Previous Board Member of UKCP, EAP, I am Vice President of the European Association for Integrative Psychotherapy (EAIP). Editor of the Leavis Society Newsletter, and Committee Member of the De Vere Society, Great Britain, my current field of enquiry is the understanding of Historicity/Historical Consciousness as primary paradigms for human existence.

I am a Gestalt Therapist, based near Grantham, with easy accessibility from Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire. I value realness and honesty, especially in relationships, and endeavour to bring warmth and connection alongside the gentle challenge of being with what brought you to therapy.
Prior to training in Gestalt Therapy in 2018, I worked in Banking and Finance and feel strongly that we each need to be met where we are, in the grit and the actual place of our day to day lives, whatever they are. I have always been fascinated by what happens ‘between’ people, and what this means in how we feel about ourselves, our ability to meet the world, and each other.
